It was a battle between two of the best tennis programs in the NE8 on Tuesday, when Leo defeated Bellmont 3-2 at home.
At No. 2 singles, Leo's Garrison Miler defeated Mason Vrablic 6-0, 6-0. Matthew Boxberger defeated Bellmont's Charlie Harris 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Leo's Will Crawford and Isaac Coohan took the No. 1 doubles point by a score of 7-5, 3-6, 7-5.
Bellmont's Cole Shifferly defeated Aaron Brandenberger 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Bellmont's other point came at No. 2 doubles where Walker and Gianni Smyrniotis beat Leo's Alex Cieslinski and Douglas Lomont 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).
FREMONT 4, BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 1: In Fremont, Fremont's Ethan Bock, Nick Miller and Josh Sherbondy won at all three singles spots. Nick Rutherford and Evan Towns beat Blackhawk's Bear Roberts and Gage Sefton 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles. Blackhawk's lone point came from Ryan Neff and Aaron Jentgen, who defeated Isaac Hirschy and Alex Chilenski 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) at No. 2 doubles.
DEKALB 5, NORWELL 0: In Waterloo, the Barons' Landon Holwerda beat Norwell's Jack Gerber 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. The No. 1 doubles team of Tonner Johnson and Logan House lost 6-4, 7-6 (5) to Evan Ostrowski and Trey Novak.
CONCORDIA 176, SNIDER 195, NORTH SIDE 218: At McMillen Park, Akira Seals-Perkins shot a 40 for medalist honors. Elle Fritcha was next with a 41.
BISHOP DWENGER 175, BISHOP LUERS N/A: At Brookwood, Luers' Madeleine Pape was the medalist with a 36, but the Saints got the win. Amy Frazier led Dwenger with a 38 and Rachel Landstoffer shot a 39.
COLUMBIA CITY 182, NORWELL 202: At Eagle Glen, Norwell's Autumn Nelson shot a 42 to earn medalist honors, but the Eagles took the win. Abby Pequignot and Katie Hoag shot a 42 and 43, respectively, to lead Columbia City.
WAYNE 1, NORWELL: In Ossian, Gladys Donis scored in the first half to give the Generals the win.
BELLMONT 3, HOMESTEAD 0: At Homestead, Bellmont won 25-18, 25-11, 25-19. Emilee Scheumann and Sophie Krull led Bellmont with eight kills each. Lexi Durnell led the Spartans with eight kills and Emily Wilcox added three blocks.
NEW HAVEN 3, WAYNE 0: At Wayne, the Bulldogs won 25-8, 25-11, 25-16. Avarcia Nard led New Haven with eight kills, and Emily Cordray added six aces in the win.
SOUTH ADAMS 3, SOUTHERN WELLS 0: In Poneto, South Adams won 25-9, 25-6, 25-4. Lydia Loshe led the Starfires with six digs and 15 kills. South Adams improves to 12-3.
