Shooting leaves man critically hurt

Officers question distraught gunman

A disturbance in the 2700 block of Euclid Avenue on Wednesday night led to the shooting of a man now battling life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police first responded to reports of a disturbance just before 8 p.m. but quickly learned that a shooting had occurred. Officers found a man in the front yard of a home suffering from gunshot wounds and administered CPR before medics arrived, Fort Wayne Police spokesman Chris Felton said at the scene. A handgun was recovered from the scene.

The shooter “did stick around,” Felton said, and was taken to police headquarters for questioning. The shooter and the victim are related, Felton said. Neighbors said they were brothers.

Several neighbors also said the shooter fired a warning shot into the air before shooting the victim. The assailant was distraught after the shooting, neighbors said.
