City man facing child porn charges

JAMIE DUFFY | The Journal Gazette

A former girlfriend had been told that the man she broke up with the year before looked at child pornography.

Then she found the proof.

Daniel E. Hyatt, 53, of the 2100 block of St. Marys Avenue is wanted for possession of child pornography after images were found on his old cellphone, according to court documents.

The phone turned up after his former girlfriend found it while cleaning out her car. She told investigators she turned it on and flipped through a gallery, discovering several photos of children between the ages of 8 and 13 either naked or performing sex acts on men.

Hyatt was charged Wednesday in Allen Superior Court and possessed the images between July 2014 and October 2017, a probable cause affidavit states.

Child solicitation felony count filed

A Fort Wayne man is charged with felony child solicitation and a misdemeanor charge for inappropriate communication with a child.

Elige Johnson, 56, also known as Lige Johnson, of the 900 block of Tennessee Avenue, was identified by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children after the organization received a tip that Johnson had been communicating with a 9-year-old. The girl, a relative, was asked to perform a sex act on herself, according to court documents.

“And think about me,” he wrote in a Facebook message.

There were other messages in August and November and a warning not to tell anyone, police said.

Johnson was charged Tuesday.
