A man was injured Thursday in a home explosion in Huntington.
Firefighters were called to 935 Leopold St., just northeast of the downtown area, at 6:04 a.m. after dispatchers received multiple calls of an explosion. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and a two-story duplex in flames.
“Most of the second floor is gone, into the first floor,” Fire Chief Tim Albertson said. “It was pretty catastrophic.”
The cause of the explosion is under investigation, and Albertson said he has asked the state fire marshal's office for assistance.
Albertson said the man, who has not been identified, was the only person in the home at the time.
The explosion does not appear to be suspicious, and the man's injuries are not life-threatening, he said.
“We're looking at all the possibilities at this point,” Albertson said.
