A man was found about 6 p.m. Sunday suffering from gunshot wounds in a van on Winter Street, where he was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Fort Wayne police responded to a possible shooting and found the van sitting along the curb on Winter Street just north of Roosevelt Drive, according to a news release.

The victim was sitting in the driver's seat suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and in critical condition.

Paramedics arrived at the scene a short time later and pronounced the man dead.

The Allen County coroner's office has identified the victim as Martell Dorel Milton, 25. Officials said he died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Milton is the 37th homicide in Allen County this year.

Detectives and crime-scene technicians were called, and police canvassed the area in search of possible witnesses, the news release said.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call the Fort Wayne Police Department at 427-1222 or Crime Stoppers at 436-7867.
