A former North Side High School special education assistant accused of seeking sex with a student pleaded guilty Monday.
Devin H. Gilliam, of the 1300 block of Putnam Street, pleaded guilty in Allen County Superior Court to felony child solicitation as part of a plea agreement. The deal calls for a three-year suspended sentence, which means he likely will not be ordered to serve time in prison when he is sentenced Oct. 25.
A charge of dissemination of matter harmful to minors will be dismissed, and Gilliam, 28, will be placed on probation for three years, according to the agreement.
Police were called Aug. 16, 2018, to the school, where a girl told them she had gotten an inappropriate text message from a member of the staff. The girl, who has a disability, later told a forensic interviewer she received several texts from Gilliam, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Gilliam sent the girl a photo of himself naked, described sex acts and “made several sexual comments to her,” investigators said.
