First lady's grants aid six area agencies

Dave Gong | The Journal Gazette

Six organizations and charities serving the Allen County area will receive a grant award today from Indiana first lady Karen Pence.

Those six organizations join 30 others across Indiana in receiving funding from the Indiana First Lady’s Charitable Foundation.

Each organization will receive a check ranging from $500 to $1,000.

The Allen County organizations are the Bloom Project Inc., Mad Anthonys Children’s Hope House, Fort Wayne Sexual Assault Treatment Center, RESPECT360, the Fort Wayne Center for Learning, and Indiana Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs.

Pence started the foundation in August 2013 to recognize and lift up organizations and charities across the state. Since its inception, the foundation granted $100,000 in 2014 to the Riley Hospital for Children art therapy program and $65,000 in 2015 to Feeding Indiana’s Hungry.
