A man is dead after a shooting on Fort Wayne's southeast side Monday afternoon.
At 1:59 p.m., city police were called to the 3000 block of Central Drive, between Eckart and Colerick streets, for a possible shooting. When they arrived, officers saw a man lying on the sidewalk suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical workers.
Police were unsure how many people were involved, but there were at least two, spokeswoman Sofia Rosales-Scatena said Monday.
“There were early indications that there was a vehicle leaving from the scene that possibly had two additional people inside it,” she said.
The shooting remains under investigation.
The victim's identity will be released by the Allen County coroner's office after an autopsy.
