The developer of what started out as a “garage” but became a “plaza” has asked for more time to present plans to the Fort Wayne Plan Commission.
Fort Wayne restaurateur Martin Quintana of Fort Wayne proposed the project for 6626 W. Jefferson Blvd. His attorney, James Federoff of Fort Wayne, asked that a public hearing scheduled for Monday be postponed until the plan commission's July 8 session.
The delay is “to discuss and resolve open issues ... that may affect units in Covington Creek Condominium and other neighboring properties,” Federoff said in a June 4 letter to planning officials.
The project, now proposed as Quintana Plaza with a restaurant and four retail units, seeks rezoning from single-family residential to general commercial and a waiver of development standards for being too close to a property line.
The project also is subject to a stop-work order from the Allen County Building Department for issues involving its permits. Penalties range from fines to demolition.
Federoff will attend the hearing Monday to formally ask for the vote for postponement, according to the letter. The hearing is at 5:30 p.m. in Room 35 of Citizens Square.
