AAUW event set
The Fort Wayne Branch of the American Association of University Women will host a brunch and presentation by its Indiana state president Marsha Miller on May 8 at the Fort Wayne Country Club, 5221 Covington Road. Miller will present the performance, “From Amanda to Zerelda: Hoosier Suffragettes Who Raised a Ruckus,” while dressed in costume as a suffragette. Tickets are $26 and registration is due Monday. • Run Hard. Rest Well. received $55,000 from the Lutheran Foundation that will help launch a wellness pilot program in eight area Lutheran churches. The money will go toward the $70,000 program that will educate and equip church leaders and congregations on practices of mental health and holistic wellness.
• Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control received a $10,000 grant from Orphan Kitten Club to purchase a new kennel system in the foster department to expand care, buy incubators for neonatal kittens and provide supplies to foster families caring for kittens.
• The International Women's Day Fort Wayne program, celebrating Women's History Month in March, raised $300 for Community Harvest Food Bank.
TK Kelly was the winner of Fort Wayne Soup's event on April 22. Kelly received the most votes for his idea to create a Food Truck Park. Kelly will receive the $1,000 raised by ticket sales to the event and matching sponsorship dollars. Kelly, with more than 25 years of experience in the food industry, will use the money for attorney and branding fees.
