The dueling campaigns of Democratic U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly and Republican challenger Mike Braun have announced endorsements this week ahead of Tuesday's general election.
Donnelly's campaign announced he has been endorsed by Chuck Hagel, a former Republican senator from Nebraska and a former U.S. defense secretary. Hagel said in a statement that Donnelly, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, "has a keen understanding of the threats we face, and he’ll stop at nothing to keep our nation safe."
Braun's campaign announced he has been endorsed by Tea Party Express, the political action committee for the nation's largest tea party group. Tea Party Express co-founder and chief strategist Sal Russo said in a statement that Braun "is a staunch proponent of the Tea Party principles of limited government, lower taxes, and economic freedom."
