Former Purdue guard Dakota Mathias signed a contract with the Dallas Mavericks today, the Mavericks announced. The terms of the contract weren't disclosed, but it's likely a non-guaranteed deal.
Mathias played last season, his first as a pro, in Spain, appearing in 12 games and averaging 8.5 points and 2.4 rebounds before suffering an ankle injury and getting released. He returned to the States this summer to play with the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Summer League, where he averaged 5.6 points and 2.8 rebounds in five games, including two starts.
Mathias played for the Boilermakers from 2014 to 2018, setting a Purdue record for career 3-pointers that has since been surpassed by Carsen Edwards. He was a two-time Big Ten All-Defensive team honoree and was honorable mention All-Big Ten in 2016-17, when the Boilermakers won a conference title.
