Purdue basketball added a commitment to its 2019 recruiting class Wednesday when four-star shooting guard Brandon Newman chose the Boilermakers over Indiana, Ohio State and Xavier.
Newman, a Valparaiso native, becomes the top-ranked recruit in Purdue's class, which now consists of three players. The 6-foot-4, 175-pound guard is the No. 127 player in the country, per 247sports.com, and the No. 5 player in Indiana.
Newman joins New Castle's Mason Gillis and Zionsville's Isaiah Thompson in the Boilers' 2019 class, which ranks No. 14 in the country after Newman's commitment. Purdue's 2018 class was No. 48 nationally.
