Coach ejected late in Mad Ants' loss

JUSTIN A. COHN | The Journal Gazette

Goga Bitadze, who had been sent to the Mad Ants earlier in the day by the NBA’s Indiana Pacers, had 25 points and 20 rebounds Saturday night.

But the Mad Ants lost 120-112 to the Windy City Bulls as Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

Alize Johnson, also sent by the Pacers, totaled 22 points and 20 rebounds. C.J. Wilcox had 17 points for Fort Wayne (9-14).

Windy City (11-12) was paced by P.J. Dozier’s 32 points. Milton Doyle added 27 points.

The Bulls opened the game with a 23-11 run that culminated with a Jarred Vanderbilt jump shot with 5:34 remaining in the first quarter.

The Mad Ants rallied, though, and took a 44-43 lead on Tre Kelley’s floating jump shot with 2:08 left in the second quarter.

A strong third quarter saw the Bulls take an 86-69 lead but Fort Wayne, again, fought back and was within 3 at 99-96 after Bitadze made a free throw with 5:29 left in the fourth quarter.

Down 116-110 with 16 seconds left, Fort Wayne’s Wilcox was chasing an in-bounds pass when he was yanked on the jersey and bowled over by Tre’Darius McCallum, who went in for an easy lay-up. Mad Ants coach Steve Gansey, who threw his clipboard and argued the non-call, was ejected.

Walt Lemon Jr. added 14 points for the Mad Ants.
