Edmond Sumner scored 25 points on 9-of-16 shooting to lead the Mad Ants to a 125-117 victory over the Capital City Go-Go on Thursday.
The teams play again at the D.C. Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington D.C. at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The Mad Ants (21-25) had lost 10 of their previous 12 games.
Alize Johnson had 21 points and eight rebounds for the Mad Ants, who used a 33-22 run in the second quarter to take a 64-55 halftime lead.
Fort Wayne closed strong with a 33-30 fourth-quarter advantage.
Rob Gray also had 21 points for Fort Wayne. Davon Reed accrued 15 points and 11 rebounds.
And Travin Thibodeaux had seven points and 10 rebounds, even though Fort Wayne was out-rebounded 47-43.
Capital City (23-24) was paced by Tyler Lydon’s 22 points and nine rebounds.
Mad Ants coach Steve Gansey reached 100 victories since taking over before the 2015-16 season. That victory total doesn’t include his nine over 35 games as interim coach in 2011-12.
His Mad Ants outshot the Go-Go 53 to 44.9 percent from the field.
