The NBA’s Indiana Pacers today released Omari Johnson and Elijah Stewart. You can bet they are headed to the Mad Ants for when they open training camp Oct. 22.
Stewart, an undrafted rookie small forward out of USC, averaged 11.7 points, 3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 36 games last season.
Johnson, a forward, who has four games of NBA experience with the Memphis Grizzlies last season, spent 44 G League games with the Memphis Hustle and averaged 16.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists.
It bears mentioning that Edmond Sumner, who was a rookie last season with the Mad Ants, has been drawing rave reviews for what he’s been doing with the NBA’s Indiana Pacers, so the chances of him spending considerable time with Fort Wayne are getting slimmer and slimmer.
