Stephen Harper has been called up to the American Hockey League’s Tucson Roadrunners, who acquired his rights today from the AHL’s Chicago Wolves for future considerations.
That means the Komets’ Playoff MVP from last season won’t be at Memorial Coliseum today for the 8 p.m. Martin Luther King Jr. Night game against the Indy Fuel.
Harper signed with the Wolves in the offseason and had been assigned to Fort Wayne multiple times. The Komets keep his ECHL rights.
As a side note, both of the Komets’ players of color, Harper and Marcus McIvor, have been called to the AHL in advance of the MLK game.
