Growlers take 2-0 finals lead on Walleye

Scott Pooley, the son of former Komets player Paul Pooley, netted an overtime goal off a rebound to give the Newfoundland Growlers a 2-1 overtime victory over the Toledo Walleye tonight. Newfoundland has a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 Kelly Cup finals, which now shift to Toledo, Ohio. The Game 1 hero, Josh Kestner, was stretchered off the ice after being elbowed in the head by Toledo’s Kevin Tansey, who received a match penalty. Pooley tied it at 1 on the ensuing power play. According to Mark Monroe of The Toledo Blade, Kestner was in the concussion protocol and at the arena.
