Hodgman: 2-3 weeks away for K's

JUSTIN A. COHN | The Journal Gazette

Komets general manager David Franke said tonight that Justin Hodgman is 2-3 weeks away from returning to the Komets' lineup.

I know what you're going to ask now: How did he play in the All-Star Classic on Monday, when he scored twice?

The answer is simple: That was a 3-on-3 tournament with no contact. The Komets don't want Hodgman going right now if they can give his hand injury time to heal more, though I would think that if this were the playoffs he'd be going.

Both Franke and Hodgman have been clear with me on this point: Playing Monday didn't make him any worse and the doctors told him such would be the case before he even thought about going.

So Hodgman won't play Friday at Indianapolis. Neither will Jake Kamrass, who has an upper-body injury.

The Komets are going to have to figure out how to play a grittier game, in my opinion, because right now they have a lot of shooters but not a lot of guys looking to make the pass.
