The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory from 1 to 11 a.m. Wednesday for Allen County and eight other counties in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio.
Other counties in the advisory area are Adams, Huntington, Kosciusko, Wabash, Wells and Whitley counties in Indiana and Mercer and Van Wert counties in Ohio.
Wind chills as low as 20 below zero are expected, the weather service said. It said those wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
The weather service said drivers should use caution while traveling outside, and those outside should wear appropriate clothing, including a hat and gloves.
