The Journal Gazette

An Edgerton, Ohio, man was injured early today in a one-vehicle crash on Indiana 8 in DeKalb County, the county sheriff's department said.

Austin L. Ziehr, 25, was driving east on the state highway in the 6700 block about 3:10 a.m. when his vehicle drifted off the south side of the highway into a ditch and struck a tree, the sheriff's department said in a statement.

The vehicle then rotated back onto the highway and rolled onto its driver's side, pinning Ziehr, the statement said.

It said Ziehr was removed from the vehicle and flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne via Samaritan helicopter for treatment of head trauma.

The crash remains under investigation, the sheriff's department said.

Butler and Indians State police, Butler, Concord and Spencerville firefighters and Parkview DeKalb EMS assisted.
