Woman faces drunken driving charge in husband's death
ASHLEY SLOBODA | The Journal Gazette
A 28-year-old Yoder woman faces a felony drunken driving charge in connection to a weekend crash that killed her husband, court records said.
A blood sample taken at Lutheran Hospital a few hours after the Saturday afternoon collision showed Kaycee A. Reed's blood alcohol content was 0.11%, according to a probable cause affidavit filed Monday.
The legal limit is 0.08%.
Reed, who is also known by the last name of Lahey, was the driver of a car that left the roadway, struck a pole and rolled over in the 5700 block of Lower Huntington Road, west of Anoka Drive, authorities have said.
Her spouse, Corbin J. Reed, 28, was a passenger in the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at a hospital, authorities have said.
The Allen County coroner determined Corbin Reed died accidentally from multiple blunt-force injuries because of a motor vehicle crash. His death was the third in motor-vehicle crashes this year.
Kaycee Reed, who was pinned in the crash, admitted to being the driver, court documents said. The records indicated she was unable to perform a standardized field sobriety test because she was bedridden.
She faces a charge of causing death when operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
