Mad Ants acquire big man

Justin A. Cohn | The Journal Gazette

The Mad Ants have acquired Kavell Bigby-Williams from the Sioux Falls Skyforce for the rights to Isaiah Hartenstein, who never played for Fort Wayne, and a second-round pick in this year’s G League Draft.

Bigby-Williams, a 6-foot-9 rookie forward/center, averaged 7.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.9 shot blocks during 32 games for Sioux Falls and Erie.

He played at Gillette College from 2014 to 2016 before transferring to Oregon. With the Ducks, he played in 37 games, averaging 3 points and 2.8 blocks per game in 2016-17. He then transferred to LSU for his final season, 2018-19, averaging 7.9 points and 6.7 rebounds.

The trade is subject to Bigby-Williams, 24, passing a physical.

Fort Wayne plays at Canton, Ohio, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Mad Ants expect to have Naz Mitrou-Long back from his ankle injury.
