Indianapolis man ID'd as Fort Wayne homicide victim

Jim Chapman | The Journal Gazette

A 40-year-old Indianapolis man was identified Friday as the victim who was found shot to death Tuesday near railroad tracks on Fort Wayne's southeast side.

Marlon Lee Kimbrough was found in the 4600 block of Oxford Street near Meyer Road.

Railroad workers called Fort Wayne police just after 9 a.m. Tuesday to report a body was found near the tracks. Investigators determined the man had not been struck by a train and deemed his death suspicious.

The Allen County coroner's office waited until Kimbrough's family was notified before identifying him.

Kimbrough was shot multiple times, the coroner's office said.

His death is Allen County's first homicide this year. There were 29 homicides last year and 46 homicides in 2018.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fort Wayne Police Detective Bureau at 260-427-1201 or Crime Stoppers at 260-436-7867.
