JIM CHAPMAN | The Journal Gazette

A 27-year-old Fort Wayne man is Allen County's latest homicide victim.

Larry Montreal Briggs was identified Tuesday by the Allen County Coroner's Office as the man who was gunned down Monday afternoon on Central Drive.

Briggs' death is the county's 29th homicide of 2019. There were 46 homicides in the county in 2018.

City police were called just before 2 p.m. to Central Drive between Eckart and Colerick streets.

Officers found Briggs lying on the sidewalk. The coroner's office said Briggs died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.

No one has been arrested.

Police said they were unsure how many people were involved in the shooting, but there were at least two.

The shooting remains under investigation.
