The Journal Gazette

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio, saying 2 to 6 inches of snow is expected by midnight.

An area including LaGrange and Steuben counties is to expect 4 to 6 inches by midnight, the weather service said. Most other parts of northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio, including Allen County, are to expect 3 to 5 inches by midnight. Mercer County, Ohio, is to expect 2 to 4 inches between 2 p.m. today and 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Drivers should plan on slippery road conditions, which will affect the evening commute today, the weather service said.

It said light to moderate snow will continue throughout the day in LaGrange and Steuben counties, then gradually taper off this evening. In other areas, a mix of rain and snow will quickly change over to all snow late this morning and early this afternoon, continuing through afternoon and at least early this evening. Hazardous travel conditions are expected in Adams County, Indiana, and Paulding and Van Wert counties in Ohio.
