Fremont hunter injured in tree-stand fall
The Journal Gazette
A Fremont man was injured Tuesday night when he fell from a tree stand, Indiana Conservation Officers said today.
Matt Goins, 34, was hunting from a tree stand in a wooded area behind his home about 7:30 p.m. and was wearing a full safety harness, conservation officers said in a statement. They said he unhooked the tether from the tree to climb down, and when he stepped on the top set of climbing sticks, the strap became dislodged and Goins fell about 20 feet to the ground.
Goins called his wife, who called 911, the statement said. He was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne for treatment.
Fremont police and firefighters and Steuben County EMS assisted at the scene.
