Teen admits shooting gun near bus

MATTHEW LEBLANC | The Journal Gazette

A teenager who fired shots at a Fort Wayne bus stop in February pleaded guilty today.

Krystopher L. Acoff, 19, was charged in April with possession of a firearm on school property/bus and criminal recklessness. He pleaded guilty to both charges this morning in Allen Superior Court.

A plea agreement calls for a one-year sentence, followed by a year on probation. He could serve the executed portion of the sentence on home detention if he is eligible, according to the agreement.

Acoff, of the 900 block of Arbordale Place, was identified on Fort Wayne Community Schools video footage as a bus rider who pulled a gun from a backpack Feb. 25 and later fired it at Colerick and Reed streets.

In court this morning, Acoff agreed with a judge that his actions put people in the area in danger.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled Oct. 2.
