A Waterloo convicted offender has walked away from the low-level facility at the Indiana State Prison this morning, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest, the Department of Correction said.
At 11 a.m., the Michigan City prison realized that Travis Hornett, 39, was missing from his outside work detail at the low-security housing unit, the department said in a statement.
Because Hornett was a minimum-security offender, he was part of the outside maintenance work crew, it said. Hornett is serving a five-year sentence for burglary.
Hornett is 5-feet, 5-inches tall, and weighs 160 pounds, the statement said.
Officials are asking the public not to approach Hornett if you see him, but to call 911 immediately.
