Fucale gets AHL deal
Justin A. Cohn | The Journal Gazette
Goaltender Zach Fucale won’t be back with the Komets, it seems. Fucale has signed a one-year deal with Syracuse of the higher-level American Hockey League.
He had been with the Komets last season through their affiliation with the Vegas Golden Knights. As such, the Komets don’t hold his ECHL rights should he be sent down this season.
Syracuse was partnered with Orlando of the ECHL last season. Former Komets goalie Spencer Martin has also signed with the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning and is expected to end up in Syracuse.
With Chicago of the AHL, Fucale was 1-3-0 with a 2.51 goals-against average and .909 save percentage. With the Komets, he was 20-9-3 with a 3.18 GAA and .894 SP.
The Komets don’t have any goalies under contract this season yet, but are expected to renew their affiliation with the Golden Knights and receive a goalie that way.
