Indiana jobless rate up slightly in November

The Journal Gazette

Indiana's unemployment rate was 3.6 percent in November, up one-tenth of 1 percentage point from the previous month and up two-tenths of a point from November 2017, the state Department of Workforce Development said today.

The state had 2,122 more unemployed residents and 94 more employed residents during the month, the department said in a statement.

It said private-sector employment grew by 2,800 during the month, primarily because of gains in manufacturing and in private educational and health services. These were partially offset by losses in trade, transportation and utilities and in leisure and hospitality.
