Teen wins 11 medals at taekwondo event

Forrest Cunningham Jr. won 11 medals at the AAU Taekwondo Junior Olympic Championships in Novi, Michigan, on Aug. 2-3.

Cunningham, 14, of Fort Wayne won six golds in speed breaking, jump/flying breaking, repetitive hand breaking, power hand breaking, power foot breaking and creative forms; silver in open breaking, weapons sparring and traditional forms; and a bronze in open traditional forms.

MMA coming to Piere's Center

Mixed martial arts is coming to Piere's Entertainment Center at 8 p.m. Aug. 19. The ticket includes Jacob Kindig, Ian Fifer and Rico Robinson with a special appearance by Dan “The Beast” Severn. For more information, call 260-486-1979.

5K, fun run and walk in Decatur

Catch Your Breath 5-kilometer and 1-mile fun run and walk is scheduled for Sept. 9 in Decatur. The 1-mile event will start at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K at 9 a.m. The start will be at the River Greenway trailhead by the Evergreen Assisted Living Apartments and the race will continue down the Greenway.
