TinCaps limited to 2 hits in loss
Midwest League All-Star Nick Margevicius pitched seven innings and gave up just two runs, but the TinCaps lost to the first-place Bowling Green Hot Rods 2-1 on Tuesday at Bowling Green Ballpark in Kentucky.
The TinCaps (28-35) had only two hits but took the lead in the fourth inning when Tirso Ornelas hit a home run to put his team in front 1-0.
Margevicius held the lead through the fifth but gave up an RBI single to Taylor Walls in the sixth. In the seventh, Devin Davis lined a first-pitch home run to right field, providing the winning run.
The TinCaps' left-hander struck out three and walked none in his seven innings. Starter Josh Fleming also pitched seven innings and gave up one run for the Hot Rods (42-21).
Notes: The Padres promoted Fred Schlichtholz from extended spring training back to the TinCaps on Tuesday and sent right-handed reliever Jordan Guerrero to extended spring. Schlichtholz has an 11.25 ERA with the TinCaps this season. Guerrero had a 3.60 ERA. ... Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana will recognize North Side senior Amaya Williams at Parkview Field on June 22 as one of 20 national Rising Star Students program winners.
