TinCaps' finale gets washed out
Game will not be rescheduled; home Monday
The final matchup of the TinCaps' three-game series against the Kane County Cougars at Northwestern Medicine Field in Geneva, Illinois, was rained out Saturday.
Fort Wayne (14-21) finished its road trip 1-4 after losing the final four games and will have a day off today before beginning a seven-game homestand at Parkview Field on Monday against the West Michigan Whitecaps, a Detroit Tigers affiliate.
The TinCaps and Cougars (16-16) completed one scoreless inning in Saturday's game, but heavy rain began to fall as the second inning started. After 30 minutes of a steady downpour, the rest of the game was canceled. It will not be made up, because this was the only series the teams are scheduled to play against each other this season.
Sunday is a league-wide off day, but there is a rule against playing make-up games on scheduled rest days.
The rain-out was a bit of bad luck for the TinCaps, who had ace Nick Margevicius on the mound.
Margevicius (1-2) came in with a 2.81 ERA this season and 44 strikeouts, the second-most in the Midwest League.
