Quad Cities defeats Cedar Rapids; TinCaps next

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Kit Scheetz struck out nine over 6 2/3 innings, leading the Quad Cities River Bandits over the Cedar Rapids Kernels in a 6-1 win on Monday in the deciding game of the Western Division Championship Series.

The River Bandits will play the TinCaps in the Midwest League Championship Series, starting Wednesday at Parkview Field.

Scheetz (3-0) picked up the win after he walked one while giving up one run and three hits.

Quad Cities took the lead in the first when Josh Rojas hit a three-run double.

After Quad Cities added a run in the fourth when Bryan De La Cruz hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Rojas, the Kernels cut into the deficit in the seventh inning when Aaron Whitefield hit a solo home run.

Tyler Wells (5-4) went 4 1/3 innings, giving up four runs and three hits. He also struck out three and walked three.
