TinCaps build on strong second half
Take lead in 6th, win 4th straight
Jorge Oņa extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a go-ahead two-run double in the sixth inning Thursday night to propel the TinCaps to a 5-1 victory at Burlington, Iowa, for their fourth straight win.
Fort Wayne (14-7 second half, 40-51) has won five of its last six and is 21-12 since June 7 after starting the season 19-39.
Oņa drove in Nate Easley and Reinaldo Ilarraza in the sixth to put Fort Wayne ahead 2-1. Oņa then scored on a Brad Zunica single to make it 3-1.
In the eighth, Ilarraza and Oņa each scored again on a single by Hudson Potts.
Ilarraza extended his on-base streak to 16 games, and Oņa extended his on-base streak to 17.
Jim McDade (2-1) struck out six and gave up five hits in seven innings, and Hansel Rodriguez struck out three in two innings of relief for the TinCaps.
Fort Wayne leads the Midwest League with 820 strikeouts in 7901/3 innings pitched.
Burlington (9-12, 40-50) scored its only run in the first inning on a home run to left by Jordan Zimmerman.
Bees reliever Ty Barkell (1-4) gave up three earned runs on four hits in two innings.
The TinCaps go for a series sweep of the Bees at 7:30 p.m. today.
