AHL team lifts Maggio from K's
JUSTIN A. COHN | The Journal Gazette
Daniel Maggio, who has five goals and 19 points in 34 games this season with the Komets, has signed a tryout agreement with Tucson of the higher-level American Hockey League.
Maggio, who has a plus-14 rating, has split time between playing forward and defenseman for the Komets this season.
Tucson and Fort Wayne are both minor-league affiliates of the NHL's Arizona Coyotes, but Maggio was not property of the Coyotes so a tryout agreement was needed for him to be called up.
Maggio has 160 games of AHL experience.
Also, Komets forward Zac Larraza has been suspended two games, and fined an undisclosed amount of money, by the ECHL for shooting the puck into the stands during Sunday's loss at Wheeling, West Virginia.
Larraza, who was in his first game back from a leg injury, was disgruntled with a high-sticking penalty late in the third period. He received a game misconduct for the action.
The Komets play Friday at Toledo.
