Saints claim title by 7 shots

Jonny Filler shot a 2-under 70 at Chestnut Hills – the best score of the day – to lead Bishop Dwenger to victory at the Canterbury boys golf sectional.

The Saints totaled a 303, bettering second-place Canterbury by seven strokes and Homestead by nine.

Danny Kimes carded a 74, the second best score of the tournament, for Dwenger. Corey Ryan added a 77 and Nick Holder an 82.

Canterbury was paced by 76s from Carson Stohler and Cam Cobler. Homestead got 76s from Adam DeLong and Cole Marcuccilli.

Advancing to regional as individual were Blackhawk Christian's Grant Norman and North Side's Braden West with 77s. New Haven's Luka Turnwald had a 78.

NOBLE HAWK SECTIONAL: At Kendallville, Cameron GeRue posted an even-par 71 to lead Carroll to victory at Noble Hawk Golf Links. The Chargers totaled a 300, including a 74 from Benjamin Jackson. DeKalb was second with a 304, paced by 72s from Bailey Clark and Gabe Schenk. Angola was third with a 330.

Individuals advancing were Leo's Isaac Rorick (78), Garrett's Levi Follett (79) and Churubusco's Wyatt Johnson (80), via a playoff.

ROZELLA FORD SECTIONAL: At Warsaw, Culver Academies won with a 300, followed by Columbia City with a 314 and Warsaw with a 318. Cal Hoskins of Warsaw and Sean Bledsoe of Columbia City shot 73s.
