Warsaw gets no-hitter in routing Plymouth

Warsaw pitcher Courtney Chookie threw a no-hitter Monday as the Tigers softball team shut out Plymouth in five innings 11-0. 

Chookie, who struck out seven, also hit a two-run home run in the second inning to put the Tigers up 2-0.

Warsaw (5-13) scored nine runs in the third inning to put the game out of reach. Both Katie Anderson and Hudson Bolinger had multiple hits for Warsaw.


HOMESTEAD 8, CARROLL 6: At Homestead, the Spartans (9-4) pulled out a win in a slugfest, outhitting the Chargers 12-11. Homestead's Rylee Norton and Carroll's Megyn Pfeiffer each hit a home run, but winning pitcher Katie Felger added a triple and Homestead's Emma Gilham added a double. The Chargers (7-6) rallied with three runs in the top of the seventh but failed to complete the comeback. 

WAWASEE 13, NORTHWOOD 3: At NorthWood, Abigayle Smith went 4 for 4 with two home runs and scored four runs as Warriors improved to 10-7. Faith Swihart went 4 for 5 with three runs and two RBI, and Kiqundra Olson was the winning pitcher, giving up three runs and nine hits in six innings. 


WAYNE 11, BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 10, 8 inn: At Blackhawk Christian (3-7), Torren Gonzalez hit an RBI double in the top of the eighth inning that scored the winning run for the Generals. Dre Walton also hit a double for Wayne (3-9), while pitcher Ben Dimino earned the win. 


HOMESTEAD 166, HUNTINGTON NORTH 183: At Chestnut Hills, Homestead's Adam DeLong had a 4-over 40 and Ethan Schreck, Cole Marcuccilli and Klayton Davis each shot 42s.
