Bruins, Saints divide doubleheader

Jackson Foote hit a walk-off double scoring Jack Hayden with the winning run as Northrop defeated Bishop Dwenger 4-3 in the first game of a baseball doubleheader Saturday at Stavreti field.

Foote and Danny Stephen hit doubles for Northrop.

Hayden was the winning pitcher and Owen Potosky took the Dwenger loss.

The Saints took the second game 2-1. Foote again added a double, as did Tarron White and Dwenger's Michael Herrold. Collin Quinlan was the winning pitcher and Hayden Heche took the loss.

WAWASEE 4, CONCORD 3: In Syracuse, Wawasee scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh. Concord tallied runs in the first, second and fourth innings on eight hits, but Wawasee scored four runs on seven hits. Jacob Krugman pitched the final inning to get the win for Wawasee and Cal Whitaker took the loss for Concord.

CARROLL 8, PLYMOUTH 4: In Plymouth, the Chargers scored four runs in the seventh inning to secure the win. Jake Shirk pitched six innings. He gave up three runs on three hits. Jacob Deacon took the loss for Plymouth. Jerod Handshoe tallied three runs in three at bats for the Chargers.

FREMONT 2-9, FAIRFIELD 3-1: In Goshen, Fremont recorded nine runs on 10 hits and no errors. Nicholas Miller had three RBI for the Eagles and Ethan Bock added two as Fremont avenged a 3-2 loss in the first game of the doubleheader loss. Mick Laisure pitched six innings, giving up three hits and a run in the win. Fairfield's Mike Stout gave up five runs in the loss. 


HOMESTEAD 7, HUNTINGTON NORTH 5: At Homestead, the Vikings rattled off two runs in the final inning, but it wasn't enough for the comeback. Katie Felger, Megan Hostetler and Emma Gilham had doubles for Homestead. Felger took the win while Sydney Selvage got the loss. Rylee Norton went 3 for 3 for the Spartans.
