Bellmont reaches girls soccer sectional final

The Bellmont girls soccer team remained undefeated with a 6-0 sectional win over Norwell on Thursday at the sectional the Braves (16-0-2) are hosting.

Junior Rylie Velez scored three of the goals, and senior Kristen Harvey had two. Emily Bergman had the sixth tally to send Bellmont to the championship match Saturday against Bishop Luers.

BISHOP LUERS 5, NEW HAVEN 0: The Knights (4-9-2) scored all five goals in the first half, including two by Ashlynn Gray, at the Bellmont sectional.

HOMESTEAD 7, WAYNE 1: The Spartans (14-3) won their seventh straight to advance to the Warsaw sectional championship. Senior Morgan Wolff scored the only goal for Wayne (13-5).

BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 2, MANCHESTER 0: Junior Hallie Vander Dussen scored a goal in each half to lead the Braves (10-6-2) to a win in the Canterbury sectional.

DEKALB 6, ANGOLA 0: Jamie Gentis and Hope Lewis had two goals each to lead the host Barons (10-7-1) to within one win of a sectional championship.

NORTHWOOD 7, WEST NOBLE 0: Emma Martz paced NorthWood with three goals, and the Panthers will face DeKalb for the title Saturday.


BELLMONT 3, COLUMBIA CITY 0: The Braves (20-9) dispatched the Eagles (8-18) on the road behind 16 kills from Tori Miller.

CARROLL 3, ANGOLA 1: The visiting Hornets (23-5) won the third set 27-25, but Carroll (23-4) took the other three, with Anna Frey contributing 13 kills.

WEST NOBLE 3, PRAIRIE HEIGHTS 0: On senior night at West Noble, senior Maddie Schermerhorn had 15 kills to pace the Chargers (26-4).

CONCORDIA 3, NORTHROP 0: Junior Jenna Mueller notched eight kills to lead the Cadets (25-7).
