Heritage rolls in boys soccer play

In the first day of boys soccer sectionals, Heritage kept its hot streak going in Ossian.

In a 9-1 win over Woodlan in Class 2A, Zar Kan bagged five goals. Ah Sain La, Maung Chit Oo, Brett Dodane and Nick Ritchie added one apiece. Gage Stieglitz scored Woodlan's goal. Heritage will play New Haven at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

EAST NOBLE 3, DEKALB 2: At Carroll, although the Barons scored first, the Knights broke the tie in the 66th minute to give East Noble the win in Class 3A. East Noble will play Bishop Dwenger at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

LAKEWOOD PARK CHRISTIAN 9, WHITKO 0: At Blackhawk Christian, Trey VanDyken, Blake Miller, Jacob Hallam, Zach Collins, Isaac Thrush, Kellen Exford and Nick Owens all scored at least once as the Panthers won in Class A. Lakewood Park Christian will play Canterbury at 5 p.m. Wednesday.


CANTERBURY 3, COLUMBIA CITY 0: At Canterbury, the Cavaliers won in three sets 25-23, 25-22, 25-21. Victoria Gray led in kills with 11 and Nicole Hanning-Bean led in blocks with 7.

CARROLL 3, LEO 1: After dropping the first set, Carroll came back to take the match 23-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-20 at home. Anna Frey led the Chargers in kills with 15. Taya Haffner led in assists with 37.
