Chargers, Lions win at tennis sectional

JOURNAL GAZETTE

No. 4 Carroll and Leo both came up with 5-0 wins in the openers of the Carroll girls tennis sectional Wednesday.

The Chargers (20-0) lost only six sets, including a 6-0, 7-5 win by the No. 2 doubles team of Katie Beier and Maria Casiano against the Braves' Mallory Hicks and Abbey Hohman.

The Lions (12-5) were almost as dominant and got a win from the No. 1 doubles team of Cassidy Boyce and Quinn Stanchin over the Bruins' Mallory Potter and Duyen Luc, 6-3, 6-2.

BISHOP DWENGER 5, NORTH SIDE 0: The Saints rolled in the opener of the Concordia Sectional by beating the Legends. Dwenger's Olivia Wright at No. 2 singles and Alyssa Cioca at No. 3 singles each won 6-0, 6-0.

ANGOLA 4, PRAIRIE HEIGHTS 1: The Hornets advanced to the finals of the Angola Sectional by beating the Panthers. Trevor Craig and Bailey Pellicia won at No. 2 doubles, 6-3, 6-2, over Alyssa Ebert and Ella Thompson. 

FREMONT 3, DEKALB 2: The Eagles moved on to the championship by slipping past the Barons. Fremont got wins at No. 3 singles from Ava Eisinger 6-3, 6-2 and both doubles. No. 1 with Kirsten Lovett and Adrianna McDowell 6-0, 6-1 and at No. 2 with Taylor Lovett and Olivia Dornbush 6-2, 6-0

HUNTINGTON NORTH 5, BELLMONT 0: The Vikings blanked the Braves at the Norwell Sectional. Huntington North's No. 1 doubles team of Macy Wohlford and Jule Nogaj won 6-4, 6-2. 

SOUTH ADAMS 4, BLUFFTON 1: The Starfires' Breanna Potts and Jade Farlow won 6-0, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3 at No. 1 doubles over Kirsten Bennett and Maranda Craighead at the Norwell Sectional.
