Carroll girls stay perfect in tennis

The Carroll girls tennis team improved to 18-0 Thursday with a 5-0 home win over Bishop Dwenger.

The Chargers did not lose a set in any of the five matches and did not drop more than two games in any set.

Senior Sydney Jackson defeated Dwenger's Cassidy Klinker 6-0, 6-1 in the top singles match, and sophomore Katelyn VanWyngarden and junior Bailey Newman each won singles matches 6-0, 6-0.

Lauren VanWyngarden and Mia Toscos paired to win the top doubles match 6-0, 6-0, and Katie Beier and Maria Casiano won their match 6-2, 6-0 to complete the sweep.

NORWELL 3, HUNTINGTON NORTH 2: Sophomore Breann Barger won the top singles match 6-3, 6-2 for the Knights. Grace White won the only singles match for Huntington North (11-4).

Baseball

ADAMS CENTRAL 5, SOUTH ADAMS 2: The host Starfires, ranked No. 1 in 2A, fell for just the second time this season and are 18-2.

Parker Bates went 2 for 3 with a home run for Adams Central (13-6).

BISHOP DWENGER 12, WAYNE 0: The Saints (13-8) scored 10 runs in the top of the fifth to blow the game open. Senior Travis Workman tripled and got the win.

WESTVIEW 10, CHURUBUSCO 0: Freshman Takota Sharick pitched six shutout innings for the host Warriors (12-5), and senior Mason Jones went 3 for 4 and scored three times.

HOMESTEAD 6, CARROLL 0: Isaac Bair went 3 for 4 with a home run for the host Spartans (11-7), and Zac Bradtmiller pitched a complete-game shutout.

NORTHROP 8, BISHOP LUERS 6: The Bruins (15-6) scored five runs in the sixth to come from behind and win at home. Evan Craeger homered for Luers.

Softball

NEW HAVEN 17, WAYNE 7: The Bulldogs (4-17) scored at least three runs in each inning, and junior Kirsten Braun hit a home run in the home win.

HOMESTEAD 10, MANCHESTER 0: Abby Felger went 3 for 3 with a home run for the Spartans (16-3), while Emilie Felger was the winning pitcher.

ELKHART 3, WAWASEE 2: Lilly Fann pitched seven innings, got the win and added two hits for the Blue Blazers (8-13).

Boys golf

BISHOP DWENGER 152, BISHOP LUERS 167: The Saints had three players shoot 38 or better, including Logan Ryan with an even-par 36 at Brookwood Golf Club.

SNIDER 178, NORTH SIDE 215: Senior Cooper Osborn shot a 41 to lead all players at Lakeside Golf Club.
