Chargers edge Tigers in softball

Carroll softball survived a late rally as the Chargers defeated Warsaw 8-7 at home on Wednesday.

The Chargers jumped to a 6-3 lead after the third inning and held off the Tigers, who scored four runs in the final three innings.

Carroll's Megyn Pfeiffer's lone hit was a home run as she finished with three RBI. Shannon Cooke went 2 of 4 with two runs, and Rebekah Badders went 3 for 3 with two RBI. Lindsey Bradley went 3 for 4 with three runs scored and an RBI, and Saylor Bradley went 3 for 3 with two RBI for Warsaw.

HOMESTEAD 6, BISHOP LUERS 0: At Homestead, Savana Harless went 4 for 4 with two RBI and five stolen bases as the Spartans gave up only two hits.

BLUFFTON 14, WAYNE 9: At Bluffton, Megan Prater went 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBI and three runs scored, and Allison Powers went 1 for 4 with a run and three RBI for the Tigers.

Baseball

CARROLL 4, LEO 3: At Carroll, the Chargers' Hayden Jones hit two solo home runs, and Nathan Fish and Bryce Ginder also scored runs for the Chargers.

Nick Jolley, Tyler Parker and Ryan Hackworth scored for the Lions.

DEKALB 13, CONCORDIA 3: At DeKalb, the Barons jumped to a 8-2 lead after the first two innings of the five-inning game.

Colin Goebel went 3 for 4 with three runs and an RBI, Ben Christiansen went 2 for 4 with three RBI, including a two-run homer in the first, and Tyler Stahl went 3 for 4 with an RBI for the Barons.

Golf

HOMESTEAD 156, CONCORDIA 198: At Chestnut Hills, Spartans' Garrett Willis shot a nine-hole 35 to earn medalist honors.

Will Kammeyer led the Cadets with a 40.

ANGOLA 166, SNIDER 227: At Glendarin Hills, Jimmy Thatcher earned medalist honors with a 39 as the Hornets claimed the top five varsity places.

Cooper Osborn shot a 53 to lead the Panthers. 

Tennis

BISHOP LUERS 5, WAYNE 0: At Wayne, Caroline Rahrig won at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-0 over Nayeli Pozuelos and Carla Choka, and Gabby Buday won 6-0, 6-0 over Moe Oo and Lin Khaing to lead the Knights.
