Cadets sweep SAC swim meet

Concordia swept the SAC swimming championships Saturday at the Helen P. Brown Natatorium.

The Cadets won the girls meet, 433-363.5 over Snider, while the boys took first, 501-399 over the Panthers. 

For the boys, Jacob McGauley was a part of four first place finishes for Concordia, the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.42), 500 freestyle (5:18.74), 200 freestyle relay (1:31.80) and 400 freestyle relay (3:32.78). Finn Brooks won the 200 medley relay (1:42.50), 200 IM (2:01.95) and 200 freestyle relay.

For the girls, Hannah Biedess took first in the 200 freestyle (2:15.44) and 400 freestyle relay (4:09.88), while Natalie Hazelet was first in the 400 freestyle relay and 100 backstroke (1:01.09).

NORTHEAST EIGHT: Columbia City won the team title with 345 points, while Bellmont (233) was second and Norwell (232) was third.

Boys basketball

WAYNE 88, SOUTH BEND WASHINGTON 85: Craig Young's 23 points led six players in double figures as the Generals won on the road. 

Young also had 10 rebounds for Wayne (7-4).

Girls basketball

ANGOLA 48, WEST NOBLE 43: The Hornets won the NECC tournament championship by beating the host Chargers. Angola improves to 18-3, while West Noble falls to 15-5.


CONCORDIA INVITATIONAL: Carroll won the team title with 246 points, outdistancing Homestead's 177.5.

The Chargers got first places from Joe Just (113 pounds), Zane Standridge (120), Joel Armey (152) and Ethan Hicks (160).
