Bruins get 2nd-half goal, claim soccer sectional title

Northrop's boys soccer team prevailed 1-0 over Carroll on Saturday night in the defense-heavy championship match of the East Noble Sectional.

Erdwin Quintana scored in the second half to help the Bruins overcome Carroll's Colin Coplen, who had seven saves.

Northrop's Alex Hernandez had two saves.

WARSAW 3, HOMESTEAD 0: In the championship of the Warsaw Sectional, Luis Cleto had a goal and six steals to lead the Warriors, who got five saves from Harrison Mevis and two from Colton Wottring.

CANTERBURY 3, BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 1, OT: In the finals of the Canterbury Sectional, regulation ended 1-1 before the Cavaliers prevailed in overtime. The goals came from Ben Kunce, Carter Davis and Justin Baeten.

BETHANY CHRISTIAN 6, CENTRAL NOBLE 0: The Cougars managed just three shots on goal as they fell in the title match of the Westview Sectional.

GARRETT 3, WAWASEE 1: The Railroaders scored two goals in the first half. The Wawasee goal came from Chris Pena.


BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 1, MANCHESTER 0: Freshman Quinn Doden's first-half goal was assisted by senior Courtney McKown and held up as host Blackhawk Christian (13-3-2) earned its first sectional title. Freshman Lydia Stayton had four saves.

CARROLL 3, EAST NOBLE 0: The host Chargers cruised in the sectional championship.

BELLMONT 6, HERITAGE 0: Rylie Velez scored twice as Bellmont won the Norwell Sectional.
