Angola wins NECC large school title
Angola beat Garrett 24-6 to claim the NECC large school division title at home Friday.
Chance Roddy threw two touchdown passes and Chase Schnepf scored twice, one on a TD catch and another rushing for a score.
Angola also improved to 8-0 for the first time since 1992.
The Hornets held the Railroaders (5-3, 3-1) to 182 total yards and 0 of 10 passing with an interception.
CARROLL 42, CONCORDIA 21: Justin and Jonathon Becker combined for 27 catches, 271 receiving yards and three touchdowns for the visiting Chargers. Justin Becker had 15 catches for 157 yards and two touchdowns, while Jonathon Becker caught 12 passes for 114 yards and a score for Carroll (5-3). Concordia (5-3) got 137 rushing yards and a touchdown from Preston Kerlegrand.
HOMESTEAD 35, WAYNE 6: The Spartans pulled away from the visiting Generals with a 28-0 advantage in the second half. Homestead (7-1) led Wayne (3-5) 7-6 at halftime. Jake Archbold ran for two scores and passed for one for the Spartans.
NORTHROP 53, NORTH SIDE 14: Keishon Edwards ran for 226 yards and two scores for the visiting Bruins. Northrop (2-6) broke a five-game losing streak against North Side (0-8).
NORWELL 25, HUNTINGTON NORTH 24: The host Knights snapped a five-game losing streak with the overtime win. Norwell (2-6, 1-5) got two receiving touchdowns from Christian Bohata, while Huntington North (0-8) lost its 10th in a row.
LEO 34, COLUMBIA CITY 13: A.J. Restivo threw for 240 yards and three touchdowns to lead the host Lions. Leo (6-2) is in a three-way tie atop the Northeast Eight with East Noble and New Haven at 5-1. Columbia City (4-4, 3-3) lost its third straight game.
WOODLAN 25, SOUTH ADAMS 3: The host Warriors avenged a sectional loss last year to the Starfires. Woodlan (7-1, 5-0 ACAC) got 188 rushing yards and two scores from Jack Rhoades. South Adams (6-2, 3-2) lost for the second time in the last three games.
HERITAGE 27, SOUTHERN WELLS 18: Parker Tracey threw for two touchdowns for the visiting Patriots. Heritage (1-7, 1-4) trailed 18-7 at halftime against Southern Wells (1-7, 0-5).
ADAMS CENTRAL 46, BLUFFTON 0: Logan Macklin ran for 127 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries and also scored on a scoring pass for the visiting Jets. Adams Central (6-2, 5-0 ACAC) held Bluffton (4-4, 3-3) to 168 yards of offense.
EASTSIDE 21, CENTRAL NOBLE 7: The host Blazers forced a three-way tie in the NECC small school division at 3-1 with the win. Eastside (6-2) broke the six-game winning streak for Central Noble (6-2).
CHURUBUSCO 35, WEST NOBLE 13: Gage Kelly ran for three touchdowns, while Nathan Keener had 142 rushing yards and a touchdown as the host Eagles rolled to the big win. Churubusco (7-1) gets to share the NECC small school division with Eastside and Central Noble with 3-1 records. West Noble fell to 3-5.
PRAIRIE HEIGHTS 45, FREMONT 6: The Panthers broke a 29-game losing streak by beating the Eagles at home. Prairie Heights improved to (1-7, 1-3 NECC small school), while Fremont (0-8, 0-4) lost its ninth in a row.
WARSAW 31, NORTHWOOD 28: The host Tigers trailed 28-10 in the third quarter before rallying to pick up the win. Warsaw (5-3, 4-2 NLC) got three rushing touchdowns and one passing score from Tristan Larsh, who threw the game-winner to Zach Riley from 24 yards out with 2:25 left.
WAWASEE 7, ELKHART MEMORIAL 6: The Warriors broke a six-game losing streak by winning at home. Wawasee (2-6, 1-5 NLC) and Elkhart Memorial (1-7, 0-6) were scoreless through three quarters.
