Chargers net 2 in overtime win

The Carroll boys soccer team got some unforgettable goals Wednesday in overtime of a 3-1 victory over DeKalb in the semifinals of the Class 3A sectional in Kendallville.

The match was tied at 1 after regulation time and Connor Carr had the winning goal, heading the ball while lying on his stomach in the penalty area, a split second after a kick from the corner was crossed back across the box.

Nolan Gonzalez had the insurance goal with five minutes left in overtime, juggling the ball around a defender for a breakaway.

Peyton Fosnough had the Chargers' goal and teammate Daniel Frank had two assists at East Noble.

DeKalb got a goal from Josh Good and six saves from Dylan Reddy.

HOMESTEAD 5, NORTH SIDE 1: At Homestead, Josh Holbrook scored twice for the Spartans, who took control with the first half's only two goals. Pedro Sole-Perez, Parker Neuman and Marco Navarro also scored for the Spartans in the Class 3A sectional.

WAWASEE 2, NORTHWOOD 0: At Syracuse, Ian Lambright didn't score a goal but starred with two assists in a Class 2A sectional semifinal. He set up a Chris Pena goal with a throw-in and his corner kick preceded Ryan Edington's insurance goal.

HERITAGE 6, WOODLAN 2: At Decatur, Zar Kyi Kan scored four times for the Patriots, who trailed before five unanswered goals in the second half. Conner Simmons and Zay Ya also scored for the Patriots. Woodlan's Aye Ra Fa and Ser dig Car scored goals in the Class 2A sectional.

BELLMONT 4, NEW HAVEN 0: In Decatur, Andrew Morris scored twice for the Braves, while teammates Sean Werling and Jordan Fuelling also scored. For New Haven, Caleb Spencer had 10 saves and Jacob Garcia two.

CANTEBURY 5, SOUTH ADAMS 0: At Canterbury, Justin Baeten and Ben Kunce had two goals apiece for the Cavaliers, who led 3-0 at halftime and never looked back. Carter Davis scored, too, in the Class A game.

BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 2, LAKEWOOD PARK 0: At Canterbury, Jake Berry and Peyton Christiansen both scored in the first half.

CENTRAL NOBLE 3, PRAIRIE HEIGHTS 1: At Topeka, Noah Jank's header for a 1-0 lead got the Cougars headed in the right direction and he scored again to make it 2-0 in the second half of a Class A game.
