Carroll gets shutout to open sectional

Zach Kinder, Peyton Fosnough and Daniel Frank each scored for the Carroll boys soccer team in its 3-0 victory over Bishop Dwenger in the opening round of the East Noble Sectional on Monday.

Trent Taylor assisted on two goals for the Chargers, who scored twice in the second half to pull away.

Colin Coplen had nine saves for Carroll. Josh Neireiter had five for the Saints.

HERITAGE 3, BISHOP LUERS 2: In Decatur, Zar Kyi Kan scored all three goals for the Patriots at the Bellmont Sectional. That included two goals in overtime. Bishop Luers' goals were courtesy of Carter Drake and Jesus Leon-Maldonado. Adam Koenig had four saves for the Patriots, and Dakota Egts five for the Knights.

BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 5, WABASH 0: At the Canterbury Sectional, Michael Pulver scored twice to lead the Braves, who led 1-0 at halftime.

PRAIRIE HEIGHTS 1, EASTSIDE 0: In Topeka, Prairie Heights advanced at the Westview Sectional with a victory in penalty kicks. The Panthers outscored the Blazers 4-3 in the PKs. Collin Keeslar's goal in the sixth round was the winner.

WAWASEE 3, LAKELAND 0: At Syracuse, the Warriors rode three late goals to the victory. Eric Yankowski scored in the 60th minute off a long free kick, and Chris Pena scored twice off free kicks.

NORTHWOOD 4, WEST NOBLE 3: At Syracuse, the Panthers advanced and will face Wawasee after defeating a West Noble team that last year reached the semistate round and was ranked 19th this year.
